Carol Johnstone Obituary

Carol A. Johnstone (Burda) of Edgewater, FL, formerly of Moosup, CT, passed away on Feb. 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on Nov. 3, 1949, in Norwich, CT, a daughter to the late Gladys (Arremony) and Joseph S. Burda from Jewett City. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, David W. Johnstone.

Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She always put family first. She grew up in Jewett City and attended Griswold High School. Following graduation she pursued a career in nursing. After retiring from nursing, she stayed home to raise her children. She then enjoyed a second career as a dealer at Foxwoods Casino for over 15 years before moving onto her best career yet - being the best grandmother to all her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling Florida with her husband David, and searching for her dolphins and manatees.  She resided in Moosup for over forty years before moving to Edgewater, FL

In addition to her husband David she is survived by her loving puppy Zeus, her children: Kerilynn (Johnstone) Lewis and husband Scott, Todd D. Johnstone and Debra Lee Deming. Her grandchildren, Colby and Emma Lewis, Jacob Johnstone and Seth Deming. Her sisters, Linda Robinson and Nancy Morey; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Carol is predeceased by: her son Brian Johnstone, mother Gladys Burda, father Joseph Burda, brother Joseph Burda Jr.

Services in Florida were handled by the Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, New Smyrna Beach, FL, with continued assistance by Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home in Plainfield.  Services are private.  Donations in Carol's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
