Catherine “Kitty” Martin, of Edgewater, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Vitas Suites at Orlando Lutheran Towers, Orlando. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Carl E. and Dorothy M. Dole Cory, Kitty came to the area in 1946 from Indianapolis.
Working in the billing department as a medical billing assistant, she retired from Fish Memorial Hospital. Kitty was a Charter member of Edgewater United Methodist Church, member of the Womens Business Club of New Smyrna, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Kitty enjoyed playing bingo, cards, shrimping, fishing and was an avid Gator fan. She collected angels. Kitty especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Mark (Cyndi) Martin, of Orlando; and Jay (Kristin) Martin, of Safety Harbor, Florida; grandsons, Kyle (Elizabeth) Martin; Connor Martin, and Sean Martin; granddaughter, Erin Martin; brothers, Daniel (Barbara) Cory, and Randy (Jackie) Cory; sister, Patricia (Jack) Hayman. Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn; two brothers, Jack Cory, and David Cory; and two infant sons, Stephen and Matthew Martin.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with the Pastor Staci Plonsky, Edgewater United Methodist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
