Catherine "Kitty" Williams Morgan

Ms. Catherine Williams Morgan, 517 South Cooper St., New Smyrna Beach, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Halifax Hospice Respite Center, Edgewater. She had lived 99 years.

“Kitty” was born May 21, 1924 in Halifax County, Virginia to Nathaniel Paul Williams and Minnie Sue Loftis Williams, the ninth of ten children.  She married Richard Royal Morgan- who was born in New Smyrna Beach- in 1948 in Salisbury, Maryland (where their first son, Alan Brent, was born). They also lived in Radford, Roanoke (where son Gary Michael and daughter Karen Marie were born) and  Alexandria Virginia. In 1987, Kitty and Dick moved to New Smyrna Beach, where they lived the rest of their lives.

Kitty loved animals, dancing and traveling. In addition to being a wife and mother, she grew and preserved food, raised chickens and a variety of mammals, was a department store sales representative and a crossing guard. Kitty also volunteered for several worthy causes. She created paintings, fabric designs and holiday tree ornaments; she sang, harmonized and played ukulele.

Kitty is survived by her two sons, who live in Albuquerque New Mexico and Greeneville Tennessee, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach, officiated by Rev. Phil Schlaefer.  Kitty will be laid to rest Monday, August 21 at 1:00 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Titusville.
