Charles (Chuck) Macnichol Obituary

Charles M. Macnichol (Chuck), age 75, of Edgewater, died peacefully at home on December 1, 2020.

Chuck was born in Warner Robins, Georgia, to Bruce and Elizabeth Keiser Macnichol.  He lived in Alaska for 4 years before it even became a state.  Subsequently, he spent most of his adulthood in northern Virginia and then in Florida.

Chuck served in the United States Marine Corp before becoming a distributor and then a District Sales Manager for Matco Tools. He then went on to owning his own business as a service station and car wash owner in Deland.

He was passionate about auto racing, and drove several local tracks in Northern Virginia.  He then served as crew chief for his son’s racing career, embracing everything from go-karts to modifieds.  He used to say that “to make a million dollars in racing, you just have to start with two!” He and his son were track champions at Volusia County Speedway in 2007 and 2008.

His second love was boats, boating, and “anything to do with the water.”  He tinkered with almost anything mechanical, and was hardworking, a straight shooter, and a man of great integrity.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Joy, and his daughter, Elyse Camryn Weber, and siblings Karen Fullington, Bruce Macnichol, Angus Macnichol, Janet Macnichol, Sue Henry and Irene Gray, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Charlie, and siblings Duncan and Nancy Macnichol.

By his express command, there will be no tears and no memorials.  He wants all of his friends to go and hoist a beer and remember the good times.
