Memorial Celebration of life for Connie Newcomb, age 90, of Port Orange, who died Wednesday, June 23, 2021, friends will be received on July 29, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
Connie was born to James and Jennie Violante on October 5, 1930 in Lancaster, New York. She was married to Cal Newcomb (deceased) for 52 years. They resided in western New York until 1959, moving to states of Florida, Colorado, Oregon, Montana, and North Dakota.
She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and served as Postmaster for 25 years in North Dakota, where she retired in 1990, moving to Edgewater, Florida. Later, she returned to the workforce in 2005, and was employed by Florida Health Care Pharmacy, for seven years, retiring in 2012; again moving to Hacienda Del Rio.
Connie was a member and held offices in Trinity Lutheran Church, NARFE, (The National Association of Retired Federal Employees), Eastern Star, Elks Lodge #1157, Florida Shores Property Owners Organization, Florida Shores Lunch Bunch, Red Hats Organization, and Secret Pals of Hacienda Del Rio. She had a Business Administration degree, receiving honors for Editor of Postmaster Newsletter, was published in Who’s Who Publication for her contributions to Community Service. She established a Heritage House in North Dakota, and had a stamp Commemorated in its name. Connie loved writing, golfing, bowling, and being a housewife and mother.
She had two children; son, Thomas (deceased) and her loving daughter, Rebecca Worley (James Gray) of Port Orange; daughter-in-law, Nancy Newcomb; ten grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
God Blessed her with much love of family and friends.
