Daniel T. Kelly

Daniel T. Kelly, age 94, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at his residence. Born in Brooklyn, New York to John and Theresa Byrne Kelly; Daniel came to the area in 1989 from Staten Island, New York.

 

A United States Navy veteran, Daniel was a New York City Police Captain, and retired in 1981.  He grew up in Brooklyn and lived in Staten Island for 35 years. Daniel was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Smyrna Yacht Club, Old Men of the Sea, and the Centurion Club. He was a Past Commodore Great Kills Yacht Club, Staten Island and was a lifetime member. Daniel loved sailing on his sail boat “Playmate”.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Maura (James) De Gaetano; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer and Jamie; 3 great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Pinky in 2004 and his loving companion, Jean Marroletti, in 2009.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 4, 2022 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Quinn, officiating.
