Darlene Louise Herzberg Rostad, aged 87, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 in Port Orange, Florida where she resided near family.
Darlene was born on May 2, 1936 in Greene, North Dakota to Leslie and Lillian Carlson Herzberg.
She was raised on a farm and graduated from the Carpio School in 1954. She married Glenn Harvey
Rostad on June 12, 1954. They had six children together before leaving North Dakota in 1963. They
were married until Glenn’s passing on June 2, 1999.
Glenn’s career with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service took the family to homes and adventures in Colorado, Texas, Alaska, and Indiana. They made many friends and created fantastic memories everywhere they went.
In 1976 they returned home to North Dakota and settled in Minot. Over the next 25 years, Glenn and Darlene were involved in several restaurants around the area both as owners and employees. Darlene was a very social lady and enjoyed being a Member of the American Legion Auxiliary, meeting her friends for Tuesday morning coffee and bowling every week. Darlene was an Avon Lady for over 40 years. She was also well known for serving samples at a major grocery store. Heaven forbid if she went anywhere without one of her famous hats sitting above her smiling face.
Her favorite days in life were spent being with friends and family. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor.
She never asked for more than she earned, and she loved more than everyone put together could ever return.
