Darry was a lifelong resident of Oak Hill and a member of St. Martha Baptist Church, in Oak Hill; son of the deceased L.A. Evans and Stella Evans, Darry was the Mayor of Oak Hill (3years, 10 months); member of Gamma Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated; and the Masonic Fraternal Lodge #36, Daytona Beach, FL.

Darry was a Lieutenant for the Department of Juvenile Justice (27 years) and worked at the City of Daytona Beach Leisure Services (5 years). He graduated New Smyrna Beach High School (Class of 1978); Bethune-Cookman College (B.S., Political Science - 1984; and Strayer University (MBA - 2014).

Darry was a very loving, considerate, and humble man that took pride in being the best in everything he did. He always made friends and never had an enemy. Darry loved sports, especially baseball.

He married Evelyn D. Wood-Evans on November 15, 1986 and they have children, Kristen Wood-Thomas (Pamela), Darry Evans, II, Dasmine Evans, Darrynton Evans (Aiyana), and *Desman Jefferson; grandchildren, Darryan Evans and Aubrei Evans; siblings, Eunice Gray, Ron Evans, Brenda Miller (Von), Shella Workman (Bruce), Tina Evans, Stanley Evans, and Greg Goodson (Roberta); Mother-In-Law, Toreatha Wood, and In-Laws, Edna Wood, Willie & Harriet Wood, Michelle Wood, Ronnie & Nora Wood, Kenny & Annette Wood, Julie Wood, Steve & Sherry Wood; Aunts, Johnny Mae Golding, Lilly Daffin, Betty Smith, Linda Chaney (Ricky), Hattie Moore, Jeanette Jefferson, and Liller Williams; Uncles, John Moore (Loretta), Peter Christian, Lloyd Christian (Merle), James Merrick, and John Merrick. Darry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Apostolic Faith Temple, with Minister Klint Plummer, Sr., Free Spirit Evangelistic Ministries, officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Friends will be received on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Apostolic Faith Temple.
