David "Andy" Anderson Jr. Obituary

David Carroll Anderson Jr. (known to loved ones as Andy) entered into heavenly rest on Tuesday, January 27th, 2021 while surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born to David Carroll Anderson and Dorothy ‘Louise’ (Manby) Anderson on October 6th, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Williston High School and went on to college. Upon graduation from college in 1982, Andy joined the telecommunications industry as an engineer which facilitated the opportunity for him to travel and work internationally and nationally eventually returning to his beloved Florida.

Andy and Kathy were a match made in heaven. Andy would always tell Kathy, “I love you like crazy”! Their first date was a country dance lesson. That lesson led to many adventures together, traveling, dancing, and enjoying making a life together. If they weren’t traveling or dancing, you could find them kayaking, paddle boarding, or fishing.

Andy was a wonderful father and Pops. If he wasn’t working or loving on his family, he could be found doing one of two things. Playing bagpipes with his son Dillon and the Rosie O’Grady’s Highlanders, or fishing with his grandson Knox. Playing bagpipes with Dillon since 2006, gave Andy great joy and the opportunity to give back to the community in a variety of settings. Fishing with Knox brought both Andy and Knox indescribable joy. They bonded in a way that helped Andy endure cancer treatment and will forever carry Knox through life. Knox’s favorite saying was, “We’re gonna catch a big one, Pops”. Little did Knox know the ‘big one’ was the way he captured the heart of his Pops! While Knox is too young to fully grasp this, Andy’s little Angel, Knox’s Mom, Lindsay was his first big one because she captured Andy’s heart in a big way the moment she was born. He beamed watching her become a fire fighter, and later a paramedic.

An avid investor in life, he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Kathy (Lynn Merriam), his children, grandchildren and his siblings. In addition to his soul mate, Kathy, Andy leaves behind: Daughter-Lindsay A Loftin (spouse-Steven Loftin) parents of Knox D. Loftin and Emory L. Loftin of Red Banks, MS; Son-Dillon D Anderson (spouse-Erin Anderson) of Deland, FL; Daughter-Erika Patterson of Westminster, CO; Son-Drew Patterson (girlfriend-Keeli Cross) of Aubrey, TX; Daughter-Lexi Patterson of New Smyrna Beach, FL; sister Laura L Anderson (spouse-Wayne Turner) of Irving, TX; Brother-Lance D Anderson of Grand Prairie, TX; Sister-Helen A Fagan (spouse-Scott Fagan) and many nieces and nephews.

He will be met in heaven by his Father-David C. Anderson, and his Mother-Dorothy ‘Louise’ Anderson and his grandparents.

His legacy of love, sarcasm, and goofiness will be eternally cherished and passed on.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Rosie O’Grady’s Highlanders Pipes and Drums, or The Marine Resources Council for the preservation of the Mangroves, or Coastline Church at New Smyrna Beach or a plant to the home of Kathy and Andy.
