Obituary
Diane M. Hughes, age 79, of New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday, September 14, 2023 at her residence. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Edward Klebba and Virginia Knapp, Diane came to the area in 2005 from St. Charles, Illinois.
A florist manager, she was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, St. John Newman, St. Charles, Illinois, and Ladies Group CRHP. Diane enjoyed golf, walking the beach, and bowling. She loved horses. Diane’s greatest wish came true when she became a Mom. She liked being a motherlike figure to many.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Darrell Hughes; three children, Jennifer (Tim) Weiss, Joseph (Jessica) Hughes, and Dawn (Van) Watkins; grandson, Brandon (Erin) Dumey; four sisters, Carole (Richard) Eppley, Susan (James) Devlin, Joan (Joel) Baczak, and Virginia Burnside; four great grandchildren, and large extended family and friends. Diane was preceded in death by her mother, father, and grandmother, Lillian Thornton (Nana).

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Quinn, T.O.R., officiating.
