Donald N. Rollo
October 23, 1930 to July 8, 2024

Donald N. Rollo, age 93, died Monday, July 8, 2024 at Halifax Health Hospice, Edgewater. Donald was born October 23, 1930 in Johnson City, New York to the late Nelson Rollo and Ida Mae (Yelle).  He graduated from Johnson City High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and received his Masters degree from South Dakota State University. Donald served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1953, having been in the reserves and called in until the end of the Korean war. He was a fire control technician and chief petty officer in gunnery. Donald was employed by Ozalid Corporation, DuPont De Nemours, Fairchild Graphics and culminated his career at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York as an administrator in the graphic production services department until his retirement in 1986. He was a resident of Hacienda Del Rio in Edgewater, Florida since 2003; and was a member of the Hacienda Del Rio Veterans and Fish and Boat Club. Don was an avid exerciser and Hacienda residents could set their watches by his early morning walks. He could also often be found climbing up and down the clubhouse stairs. Don loved fishing and boating, golf and playing pool. Before his move to Florida he enjoyed deer hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Joanne Reid Rollo; two children from his first marriage to Jackelyn Curry; Michael N. Rollo of Georgetown, Delaware, and Philip J. Rollo of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his niece, Rachel Hanson and nephews, David Rollo and Scott Rollo; step-children Wendy Hanavan-Saldanha (Julian A. Saldanha), Jeffrey R. Hanavan (Kate Lunde), and step-grandchild, Julian R. Saldanha, and five grand-nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his brother, Gerald F. Rollo of Poughkeepsie, New York.
