Donnie Gagnier, age 73, of Edgewater, died Saturday, August 5, 2023 at his winter residence. Born in Albany, New York to Rene and Marilyn Beshaw Gagnier; Donnie has been a snowbird in Edgewater for the past 9 years.
A former owner/operator of a Mobile station in Plattsburgh, New York; he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Chazy, NY and St. Gerard Mission Church in Edgewater. Donnie was a member of the American Legion Post 285, Edgewater; being a son of the Legion, American Legion Rider and on their honor guard. He loved hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding. Donnie had a passion for music since he was 10 years young; playing guitar, drums and lead singer for several bands over the past 40 years; most recently Donnie and the Nomads, in Plattsburgh. He was a special person that was loved by everyone that knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Francine; 2 daughters, Karen Tallon and Julie Gagnier of Plattsburgh; 3 grandsons, Malachi and Camron Tallon, and Tristan Bracy; 2 brothers, Conway, and his wife, Sharon of Port Orange, and Thomas, and his wife Anita of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. Donnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole in 2006; and two brothers, Charlie and Rene Jr.
Celebration of Life will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the American Legion Post 285, Edgewater.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023 at St. Gerard Mission Church, Edgewater, with the Redemptorist Fathers officiating.
Donations may be made in Mr. Gagnier’s name to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; American Legion Post 285; Southeast Volusia Humane Society; or a veteran’s group.
