Doreen Mavis Longstaffe, 90, of Newton-le-Willows, England, died peacefully of natural causes, Friday, December 11, 2020 at her son, Colin Longstaffe’s home in Tennessee.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Dale Woodward Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1780 Oceanshore Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL, 32176. Chaplain Mark Spivey will be officiating. Family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. until service time.
Doreen was born June 2, 1930 in Newton-le-Willows, England. In 1950, she married Alexander Dorrien Longstaffe, and they had 4 children. They immigrated to Canada in 1959, and continued down to the United Stated until they reached Florida in 1969. As a young woman, she served a seven year apprenticeship as a tailor in England, and in Florida she opened her own tailor shop. Her tailor shop, known as The English Tailor, in Ormond Beach was a very successful business for her that enabled her to provide for the family she loved so much. She retired and moved back to England in 1985.
She was a kind hearted and fun loving woman, who always put family first. She moved back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean from England to America to be with them, whenever they needed her.
She is survived by 2 sons, Roy and his wife Mandy Longstaffe, of Harrogate, England; Colin and his wife Laurie Longstaffe, of Newport, TN; 2 daughters, Sandra and her husband, William McDonald of Palm Coast, Pam and her husband Mike Cawood of Ormond Beach; 12 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren; sister Josephine Hide of Lowton, England. Doreen was preceded in death by her brother Ron Isherwood and sister Peggy Simm.
