Doris E. Aids Phillips, age 90, of Edgewater died Thursday November 28, 2024 at AdventHealth New Smyrna. Born in St. Augustine, Florida to Herman and Lavinia Riley Evans, Doris came to the area in 1985 from Miami, Florida.
A retired school cafeteria manager, Doris was a member of the First United Methodist and was a devout Christian. She loved volunteering at her church, especially participating in serving meals to the homeless. Doris loved watching the rockets go into space; enjoyed working in her yard, and her gardenias were absolutely gorgeous. Doris looked forward to family gatherings, and was a Miami Dolphins fan. She was proud to support her team; go Dolphins.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Frady, of Columbus, Georgia; son, Thomas Aids, of Miramar, Florida; 2 granddaughters, Melissa Johnson, of Columbus, Georgia and Shannon Aids, of Tarpon Springs, Florida; 2 grandsons, Johnny Frady, of Columbus, Georgia and Robert Schleifer of New Smyrna Beach; 5 great grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Mims, of Jupiter, Florida. Doris was preceded in death by her first husband of 52 years, Buster Aids, and second husband of 7 years, Wendell Phillips; grandson, Daniel Aids, daughter, Joanne Schlelfer, and brother, Herman Evans.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, with Dr. Lawrence E. Wilson, officiating. Burial will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the First United Methodist Church, 310 Douglas Street, New Smyrna Beach 32168.
