Dorothy Merle Burch

Dorothy Merle Burch, age 85, of Oak Hill, died Monday, January 9, 2023 at her residence. Born in New Smyrna Beach, to Millard Wilson and Viola Sadie Vann Goodrich, Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Oak Hill.

 

Dorothy was a member of Shady Grove Church of God, a Sunday school teacher and a song leader at church. After raising her children, she was a cook at Goodrich Seafood Restaurant. Dorothy was a member of Friends of Library, Oak Hill, loved crossword puzzles and reading. She especially loved spending time with her family and most of all her grandchildren. Dorothy will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

 

Survivors include her sons, Bruce (Sharon) Burch, of Oak Hill and James (Karen) Burch, of Oak Hill; daughter, Valerie Burch, of Baltimore, Maryland; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Buczkowske, of New Smyrna Beach and Nora Lee Sproles, of Edgewater; and brother, Neal Goodrich, of Oak Hill. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James; son, Kerry Kerrison; granddaughter, Tara Kerrison; brothers, Millard (Sonny), Johnny, and Cecil Goodrich.

 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Shady Grove Church of God, with James A. Burch, III, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Shady Grove Church of God.
