Dorothy G. Laswell

Dorothy G. Laswell, 83, of Edgewater, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026.

She was born on May 29, 1942, in Bay Shore, New York. Dorothy spent many years building a life centered on family, faith, and community. She dedicated part of her career to working at Bell South and later with Volusia County Schools, where she was known for her kindness, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Dorothy was a woman of deep faith and remained actively involved in her church throughout her life. She found joy in tending to her plants, cheering on her beloved FSU Seminoles, and spending time with her family and cherished the memories they shared together.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Holly Diaz (Brian) of Port Orange, Florida; her granddaughter, Tatum Diaz (Ian) of Edgewater, Florida; her sister, Susan Gehres of Ormond Beach, Florida; as well as many dear cousins and extended family members who will miss her greatly.

A private cremation burial will take place at Edgewater Cemetery. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Live Oak Cultural Center in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NSB Caps (scholarships) at PO Box 1808 New Smyrna Beach, FL 32170 or Edgewater Animal Shelter at 605 Mango Tree Dr, Edgewater, FL 32132.

Dorothy will be remembered for her warm heart, her unwavering faith, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.
