Jack Neil Deeds, 91 years old, passed away May 27, 2023 at home with his family beside him. Jack was born in 1932 halfway down White Oak Mountain in Jumping Branch, WV to Alma (Lusher) Deeds and Everett Charles (Pete) Deeds.
He finished high school in St. Albans, WV and joined the Air Force in 1952 where he served as an Air Traffic Controller for 20 years. While in the service, he met and married his wife, Maxine. During their marriage of 65 years, they were the proud parents of three children. After his time in the Air Force, Jack felt God’s calling and entered into the ministry. He completed his Bachelor of Ministry, his Master of Theology, and went on to obtain his Doctorate in Theology. He served in several churches in Georgia and Florida as a Southern Baptist Minister. Jack always had an open heart and an open home. Throughout his service and ministry, he “adopted” many servicemen and youth and was warmly referred to as “Papa Jack”. He was also well-known and loved for his quick wit, sense of humor, and constant joking. He thoroughly enjoyed living up to his nickname of “TROUBLE”.
Jack is survived by his wife, Maxine (Larisey) Deeds; his sons, Dayne Deeds (Shannan) and David Deeds; his daughter, DeAnn Schanze (Ken), and grandchildren Kirsten Seese (Mike) and Justin Schanze (Jena).
