On Saturday, August 28, 2021, Earl F. Wallace, Jr. succumbed to complications of Covid 19. He was born in 1939, in the family home on the intercoastal in New Smyrna Beach. Earl graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1958, went on to serve his country in the US Army stationed in Japan until 1961. Upon returning from service, he married Mary Anne Thomas.
After working for years in the building industry, he started his own business in Edgewater called Smyrna Drafting Services. Earl was an active member of the local chapter of Jaycees and the Elks Club. His political interests led him to participate in local politics and part of the planning and zoning board of Edgewater.
In the early 80’s he decided to follow his dream and live on the water. He moved onto a sailboat at the NSB Marina and lived happily for years. He was always there to help a friend in need and problem solve any situation. He loved his Gators and was a die-hard fan flying the flag every game day. He enjoyed bowling and a round of golf anytime with friends. Among his varied interest, he found a passion in growing his own blueberries as well as raising aquarium cichlids and Koi.
During the 1990s, Earl returned to the family’s river house to care for his parents until their passing. The house was always open to anyone that had time to fish from the dock, share a story on the porch, coffee, and a cookie, feed the koi, or cook on the grill and have a beer. In 2019, he moved to a small farm in Samsula still pursuing his love of gardening, koi, and his sweet girl Snickerdoodle (his basset hound).
Preceded in death by his parents, Millicent and Earl Wallace Sr., he is survived by his brother, Stanley G. Wallace, daughter Dixie Leigh Gibbins (Michael), granddaughter Amanda Kotnik (Jake) 2 nieces and 2 nephews and their families and longtime companion Mary Jo Myers.
Due to current Covid situation, the family has decided to postpone any gathering at this time to help prevent the spread of the virus. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
