Elizabeth Lucille (Reny) Heavener

Elizabeth Lucille (Reny) Heavener, passed away Friday January 10, 2025 of complications from surgery. Elizabeth was born May 12, 1951 at Seton Hospital in Waterville, Maine to Patricia Marie (LaChance) Reny and Raymond Joseph Reny and was raised in Winslow, Maine. Graduated Winslow High School in 1970. She attended culinary school in New Hampshire.

She worked at the Togus VA Hospital in food service until she became disabled. She enjoyed working with the Veterans and tried to give them respect they deserved. Elizabeth was a friend of Bill W. from the nineteen nineties and maintained that friendship till her passing. 

Elizabeth moved to Oak Hill, Florida with her husband William Heavener in 2021 who she married October 7, 1995 at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville, Maine. She loved the heat and was able to garden year-round. She loved cooking and if not gardening she would cook. She put on family dinner every month that would take days of preparation and invite every family she could get a hold of. She loved Christmas and would cook and bake not only for the family who lived locally, but also her family in Maine which she would ship to them. I called it cooking season, it would take weeks. 

Elizabeth is survived by her husband William Heavener and her step sons Billy Heavener; Joshua Heavener; Justin Heavener and step grand children Brogan Heavener and Cora Heavener. She is also survived by her four sisters Becky, Paula, Lisa and Carolyn and her brother Ed. She was preceded in death by her parents Patricia and Raymond Reny. 

There will be a visitation Monday January 20, 2025 from 6PM to 8PM at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, 406 S. Orange Street in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

There will also be a memorial at the First Baptist Church of Oak Hill 192 E Halifax Ave, Oak Hill, FL, United States, Florida on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
