Jo enjoyed many happy times with her family and friends, over her 93 years bringing love and life to the world. She volunteered for nearly 20 years delivering Meals on Wheels in Volusia County. She has supported numerous charities in the family’s name over the years, most in support of Veterans programs. She enjoyed nightly Happy Hour and weekly dinners out laughing with many dear friends on Bouchelle Island and holiday celebrations with her ever-expanding family including the last of a long line of beloved miniature dachshunds, Coco. She was a talented painter, cook and horticulturist. She was born in her grandmother's house in 1930 in Spartanburg SC. She graduated from Miami Senior High School. She attended University of Miami and was married to the love of her life for 53 years, A. Ben Outlaw, whom she met at Miami High. As an industrious military wife, she moved her family nearly every year over a more than 20-year career, before Ben retired as an officer in the US Air Force. Following the family’s time in the Air Force, they remained in Virginia while Ben finished his working life with a 15-year career as a Vice President of Raytheon Corporation. Fulfilling a lifetime promise upon retirement Ben moved the family back to Florida, where they lived in Lake Mary and New Smyrna Beach. She is survived by her three children Leigh (and her husband Michael), Buz (and his wife Janet) and Mark, seven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She will rejoin her beloved husband at Arlington National Cemetery, where he has waited patiently for nearly 22 years.
