It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Eric Zercher on February 17th, 2021. Born to Frederick William and Betty Jean Erickson Zercher on October 12th, 1960 in Syracuse, NY. He shared many fond stories of growing up in rural upstate NY with a family he loved and honored. He graduated from Fabius-Pompey High and continued his education to graduate with a BSBA in Finance from University of Central Florida in 1986.
To his many friends he was loved and appreciated, and was described as altruistic, caring and sensitive. He had incredible wit. He helped care for Sue’s terminally ill daughter Shannon Fleming, and has spent the last seven years helping to raise these two wonderful boys Noah and Kobey. Eric attended school activities like Math Night, Grandparents Day and Dad’s day, and made a point to of showing his grandsons just how much he cared for them. Together, Eric and Sue were founding members of Grandparents as Parents, a support group for grandparents raising grand children located at Chisholm Elementary School. They offered advice and encouragement to new members and shared valuable information to all. Eric participated in the annual Chisholm Elementary Career Fair and presented info on his field of expertise environmental revetement. Eric was also involved with Boy Scouts with his grandsons. His day was not complete without a copy of the Wall Street Journal, a cup of coffee, and Sue to share it with as Sinatra was playing in the background. We his friends and family will miss him terribly.
Eric leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sue Zercher, grandsons Noah and Kobey Fleming, mother Betty Jean, brothers Kevan, (June), Rick (Karen), and sister Krista (Dave) Peterson. He was predeceased by his father Frederick William Zercher.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 17th at 12pm at Ft Mellon Park, Sanford, Florida.
