Frances Dyer, 95, of New Smyrna Beach FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. She was born in 1928 in Ligonier IN. She and late husband Hubert were active members of the New Smyrna Beach community since moving there in 1991, volunteering for numerous local charities over the years.
“Fran” was a dynamic lady who led a full life, visiting all 50 states and several countries. She was an outstanding athlete who played softball and basketball in high school and was an avid golfer and tennis player in NSB until recent years. She even played pickleball before it was cool. Before retiring with her beloved“Hubie,” she was a registered nurse for many years at hospitals in Nashville, TN.
A member of the New Smyrna Beach Church of Christ, she was preceded in death by parents Hershel Guy Reed and Doris Howenstein Reed, brothers Robert David, Dale Earl and Alan Lee, husband Hubert, and daughter Terry Lee Ashburn Bouchillon. Survived by children Amy Dyer (Lamont), Connie Gail Teague (Steve), Joe Bouchillon, David Ashburn (Barbara) and Mark Dyer (Tammy); grandchildren Eric (Kelsi), Chris Ashburn (Kelly), Sharnai Hurlstone (Ric), John (David), Allison Dyer (A.J.), Payne and Taylor Bouchillon, honorary grandchildren Curtis Creekmur (Sheri) and Jeremy Swaggerty (Izzi); great grandchildren Barrett, David, Andrew, Addison, Briggs, Radford and Jones Ashburn and Richard Hurlstone.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2024 at Settle-Wilder Funeral home, New Smyrna Beach. Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday July 8, 2024 and the service will be held at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be afterward at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens with Honorary Pallbearers Lamont Ingalls, Joe Bouchillon, Steve Teague, Eric Ashburn, Chris Ashburn, John Dyer, Curtis Creekmur, and Jeremy Swaggerty.
