Gary Pierce Sweat

Gary Pierce Sweat, age 75, of McRae, Georgia, and formerly of New Smyrna Beach, died October 5, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.  Born in San Diego, California to Dana and Lillian Sweat; Gary moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1954.  

Gary served in the U.S. Navy and had a love for the water, owning and operating several businesses in the marine industry during his career.  He was passionate about his family and enjoyed outdoor life - water skiing, fishing, hunting, lobstering, and using his tractor. He was a graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School Class of 1965, a member of the Anglers Club and New Smyrna Beach Boat and Ski Club.  He was friendly and kind and made friends everywhere he went. 

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Debbie; 2 daughters, Kellie (Danny) Conley, and Marina (Adam) Owens; brother, Mark Sweat; 5 grandchildren, Destini, Lane, Hunter, Saige and Jaden; and a large extended family.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Dana and Lillian (Sandy) Sweat, both of New Smyrna Beach.
