George Crusco Obituary

George Francis Crusco, age 84, died Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Orlando VA Medical Center at Lake Nona. Born in New York, New York, to Joseph and Margaret Shannon Crusco, George grew up in Elmwood Park in Bergen County, New Jersey.

After he and Trudy married in October 1960, they moved to Hackensack, New Jersey. In 1965, George, Trudy, and their two daughters moved to Rockaway, New Jersey. In 1976, the family relocated to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and then moved to Edgewater, Florida, a few years later.

George faithfully served as a Deacon at Mount Moriah Church, a historical church in Port Orange, Florida, where his wife Trudy pastors. He was an avid Bible reader and follower of Jesus.

George was proud to serve in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wasp aircraft carrier. After leaving the service, he spent many years in the construction and trucking businesses. He was the business owner of Superior Docks and Seawalls, specializing in docks and rock revetments. He built the coquina rock revetments on New Smyrna Beach's Bethune Beach, and those revetments will continue to protect homes for years to come. George was always willing to help family and friends with whatever they needed. He could fix almost anything that needed fixing, a true handyman knowledgeable in home renovations and auto repairs.

George loved the outdoors, and you would find him tinkering in the yard most days and working on various projects. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He always had a story to tell and loved a good cup of coffee with extra cream and sugar.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Trudy; two daughters, Doris Crusco Swift (Brian), of Edgewater, and Karen Crusco Midland, of New Smyrna Beach; two granddaughters, Lisa Cox (David), and Lauren Midland; two grandsons, Michael Swift (Randi), and Matthew Midland; two great-granddaughters, Trinity Cox, and Kennedy Cox; and five great-grandsons, Jaden Swift, Braden Dumsha, Seth Cox, Hunter Swift, and Jasper Midland. He was also a beloved brother-in-law and uncle. George was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Victoria Midland, and his parents.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, with the Reverend John A. Ferro, officiating.
