George Rigney Obituary

George Edward Rigney, age 68, of Edgewater, died Monday, July 26, 2021 at Halifax Health Medical Center. Born in Cold Spring, New York to William James and Gertrude Burress Rigney, George came to the area in 1982 from New York.

A tow truck operator, George drove race cars and raced at New Smyrna Speedway. He was very mechanical and loved working on cars. George was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna Hovencamp, Mandy (Phillip) Bessette, Kalysa (Andre) Lydecker, Carrine Hovencamp, Cheyenne Rigney, Courtney Rigney, Shelby Rigney, Michele Hovencamp, Sherry Hovencamp and Shannon (Bill) Self; sons, Jeremy (Niki) Hovencamp, Josh (Amanda) Hovencamp, James Rigney, Michael (Angel) Hovencamp and Wilbur (Rosalie) Hovencamp; grandchildren, August Lydecker, Jaden Hovencamp, Kenji Lydecker, Trinity Self, Tyler Self, Ethan Hovencamp, Mikayla Hovencamp, Ashley Hovencamp, Wyatt Hovencamp, Preston Hovencamp, Stella Hovencamp and baby boy Hovencamp on the way. George was preceded in death by his grandson, Jace Hovencamp, and his wife, Donna Rigney.
