Gerald Lamar Murphy, age 75, of Edgewater, died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Halifax Health Hospice, Edgewater. Born in Bristol, Georgia to W.C. and Nora Moody Murphy, Gerald came to the area in 1963 from Georgia.
He was a United States Army veteran and was raised a Baptist. Gerald was a member of the Heavy Equipment Operators Union Local 673 and loved farming, fishing and woodworking. Gerald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marcella; 2 daughters, Paulette Tomlinson, of Edgewater and Pam Murphy, of New Smyrna Beach; son, Chris Murphy, of Seymour, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Winston, Emily, Dustin, Zachary, Kelsi and Jeffrey; great grandson, Braylen; 2 brothers, Cleve Murphy and David (Joan) Murphy; and 2 sisters, Geneva (Terry) Crosby and Jeanette (Charlie) Bishoff.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, with Minister George Galloway, Calvary Christian Center, New Smyrna Beach officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Chapel.
