Gillian Canady Obituary
Gillian Canady, age 80, of New Smyrna Beach, died Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Lexington Place Assisted Living Facility. Born in London, England to Arthur and Lilian Harrison Adams; Gillian moved to this area in 1969.
An accountant for the New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission, Gillian retired in 2002 as the Commission’s Chief Accountant after 24 years. Affectionately known as the “Cat Lady”; she was a longtime volunteer at the Southeast Volusia Humane Society, where she helped rescue numerous kittens and cats. She was a proud graduate of UCF, and was extremely caring with a wonderful personality.
She is survived by her niece, Charlotte Mayer (David); great nephews, Jack and Evan Mayer; and a sister in England, Linda Morris (Roy).
