Grover Rex Ryan, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30 at his beachside home in New Smyrna Beach. Born to Rex and Maude Ryan on February 6, 1930 in New Smyrna Beach, he was a lifelong resident.
Grover was a commercial fisherman and owned Ryan and Sons Fishing Company with his father and brother, Roy Ryan. He owned and captained two shrimp boats, the Margaret A and the Joanne & Gayle.
A generous person and hard worker all his life, he loved being outdoors on the river and ocean, birds and animals, and was always eager to lend a helping hand to others.
Survivors include his caregivers: niece, Dorothy Hughes Roehrborn and her husband, Bill, of New Smyrna Beach, one great niece and two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Homer Ryan and Roy Ryan and one sister, Lettie Ryan Eastes.
There will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Halifax Health Hospice.
