Harry (Sonnie) Abraham Mellott Jr.

Harry (Sonnie) Abraham Mellott Jr., age 62, of Edgewater, died after a brief illness  Saturday, March 2, 2024 at AdventHealth New Smyrna. Born in Baltimore, Maryland to Harry Abraham  and Mary Stevens Mellott, Sonnie moved to Florida in January, 1995 from his birthplace.

A man of many talents Sonnie never met a stranger. Everyone was a friend and loved him immediately. A radar installer for the government, he was working for Teledyne Marine in Daytona. Sonnie loved to fish, hike and go on day trips with Denise in his beloved Jeep. He was always helping people and was known as a practical joker.

Survivors include his wife, Denise; they were married in 2007; four sons, Steven Mellott; Derek (Summer) Shenski; Nicholas (Renee) Shepard; and Gregory Torvestad; three sisters, Juanita (Reggie) Blackwell; Melissa Mellott-Yearick; and Christine (Jake) England; four grandchildren, Haven (Cole) Shenski, Nicholas Shepard Jr.; Layla Shepard, and Sierra Shepard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sonnie was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Layla Shenski in 2005.

Celebration of Life will be 1.00 p.m., on March 16th at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach, FL.
