Irene R. Gordon, 87 went home to be with the Lord Feb. 7, 2021. There are no adequate words because she was truly “one of a kind”. She had a deep love for her family and most everyone who came into her life.
She was born Anita Irene Ross to Ira and Eunice Ross in Lakeland, Florida. Irene graduated from Swannee County High in Live Oak, Florida. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she was a legal secretary.
Irene married John Gordon on Valentine’s Day in 1964 and moved to New Smyrna Beach where she became an accountant with her Master’s degree. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, traveling, long walks, her animals, Bible studies with her friends, the North Georgia mountains and especially spending time with her family and friends. Irene made beautiful homemade outfits for her children and grandchildren as well as gorgeous quilts and wonderful Halloween costumes.
She is survived by four children Teresa Wisneski (Marty), Gregg Fouraker (Cindy), Ross Fouraker, John Mark Gordon (Davia); grandchildren Krista Wisneski, Adam Wisneski, Brittany Hole (Patrick), Amy Lash(Jason), Chandler Gordon (Emma), Brock Gordon (Gretchen), Haley Gordon; great grandchildren Jorden Houser, Victoria and Costa Haritos, Rylyne, Emry and Selah Hole, and Logan Lash as well as special friends; Roy Bishop, Sandy Evans and Carol Chastain; and countless other “adopted” family. She will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with Dr. David Starkey, Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, officiating.
