Irene J. Howland

Irene J. Howland, age 89, of Oak Hill, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at her residence. Born in Oak Hill, to Garrett and Annie Lorene Hutchinson Howland, Irene was a lifelong resident of Oak Hill.

A retired property marketing specialist with the United States Government, she was a member of the Oak Hill Garden Club, First Baptist Church of Oak Hill, where she taught vacation bible school and was a Sunday school teacher. Irene enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Irene treasured her time with all of her nieces and nephews and was a great, great, great Aunt to many. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sister, Jean Pittman, of Perry and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Garrett, Jr., Ellis; and sisters, Lela Mae and Margaret.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Oak Hill, with Pastor Joel Kobosh, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
