James G. Patrie, 86, of Brockport, NY, and Oak Hill, FL, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. Born on June 16, 1938, James was a proud Navy veteran who served honorably aboard the USS Chambers. His time in the service shaped much of his life, instilling in him a sense of duty, discipline, and commitment that he carried into all aspects of his life.
James was a devoted husband to Patricia and a loving father to Rory (Deb) Patrie. He was a cherished grandfather to Pamela (Tom) Elias, Rory (Grace) Patrie, and a proud great-grandfather to Emma and Eric Elias and Robert Patrie. He is also survived by his dear sister, Joyce (Bob) Peters, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
An avid fisherman and a skilled carpenter, James found joy in the outdoors and in creating. He spent countless hours on the water and in his workshop, sharing his passion for both with family and friends. Whether he was helping someone with a home project or teaching the next generation how to fish, James’s generosity and expertise were always appreciated.
Above all, James was a good friend—always ready with a listening ear, a helping hand, or a good laugh. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, and he will be remembered for his unwavering friendship, his kindness, and his infectious sense of humor.
James’s legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who loved him. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
