James L. Wyman, age 74, of Edgewater, died Tuesday, August 7 at home. Born in Melrose Park, Illinois, Mr. Wyman came to this area in 2014 from Marion County.
A retired teacher, Mr. Wyman served the Marion County School District for 35 years, mostly teaching the building trades. He attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of New Smyrna Beach and was a member of Smyrna Yacht Club, where he enjoyed sailing with Old Men of the Sea.
Other interests included owning a horse farm in Marion County, working as a boat captain for 10 years, from which he drew much pleasure, woodworking, and raising roses. He was also a member of Elks Lodge #1557.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Betty; son Steven Wyman of Alexandria, Virginia; brother, Richard (Laurie) Wyman of Dadeville, Alabama; two sisters, Mary Ann Hamilton of Milford, New Hampshire, and Ruth (Wayne) Depotie of Palmyra, New York; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Rodney Roehner officiating.
