James “Jim” Schuster, age 77, of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday, January 8, 2021 at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach. He was born in Mt. Vernon, New York to James Alfred and Helen Maxwell Schuster, who preceded him in death.
After high school, Jim spent 8 years in the U. S. Air Force as a Link Trainer Technician and was a Vietnam era veteran. He then had a 30-year career with IBM as a Technical Engineer. Jim came to New Smyrna Beach in 1998.
After retirement from IBM, Jim became a self-employed computer technician. He enjoyed helping people with their cantankerous computers. He also enjoyed a new-found hobby of woodworking. A soft spoken, meticulous, gentle spirit, Jim was a very active member of the Servants’ Quarters Fellowship and was an avid student of the Bible.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Kay; brother, Bill (Susie) Schuster of Colorado Springs; 2 sons, Jay (Scott) Schuster of Richmond, VT and Glenn (Erin) Schuster of Gig Harbor, WA; and 4 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Sarah and Isaac Schuster. Jim was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Schuster.
Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater with Pastor David Starkey, Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, officiating. Entombment will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial to Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, 1429 Sabal Palm Drive, Edgewater, Florida 32132.
