Jean Deaton, 98, of Port Orange, and formerly of Edgewater, FL and Claymont, DE began her heavenly life on July 9 with her family by her side.
Jean was born on September 11, 1925 in Camden, NJ, but lived most of her life in Claymont. She was a 1943 graduate of Claymont High School, and also attended Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. She was a member of Atonement Methodist Church in Claymont, and then Coronado Community Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach, FL. She worked as a secretary in the Claymont school district until her retirement in 1987, then moved to Edgewater, FL to live the retirement dream.
She was an active church volunteer, and enjoyed watching sports, particularly college football and basketball.
Jean is pre-deceased by her husband, Bill, mother Lidie, and father Wilbur. She is survived by her son Bill, Jr and wife Sharon of Port Orange, daughter Debbie Pleasants and husband David of Stuart, VA, sister Betty of Concord, NC, brother Jim and wife Rosalie of Orlando, FL, granddaughter Kaci Oliver and husband Trey of Greensboro, NC and two great grandchildren, Charlie and Fields.
A memorial service will be held at Coronado Community Methodist Church, 201 S. Peninsula Ave., New Smyrna Beach, Florida on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 1 PM.
