Jimmy Douglas Hardy

Jimmy Douglas Hardy, age 82, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at home.  Born in St. Albans, West Virginia to John Frank and Nelva K. Hardy, Jim moved to West Palm Beach in 1970, before moving to New Smyrna Beach in 1980.

Jim was a graduate of St. Albans High School in St. Albans, WV. Jim worked as a service planner at Florida Power & Light for 28 years until Jim retired. He enjoyed fixing up homes and being with family. Jim was a devoted father and grandfather.

Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Alice Lee Durrett Hardy; 3 sons, JD, (Dori) Hardy of Hawthorne, FL, Greg Hardy of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Jay C. (Mary Beth) Hardy of Palatka, FL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; 2 brothers, John Hardy of Calabash, NC and David Hardy of Somerset, KY; and sister, Sue Melanson of Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations to Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of one’s choice.
