John Maryes

John Maryes, age 72, of Ormond Beach, died, Monday, April 3, 2023 at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach.  Born in DeLand to Otis and Martha Carlisle Maryes, John was a lifelong area resident.

A grocery store manager, he was an avid farmer and had a grapefruit grove in Pierson. John loved to cook and was an awesome cook. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and the outdoors. John will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his life partner, Babs Cawood; 2 daughters, Melissa (Carlos) Lavergne, of Diamondhead, MS and Kristi (Michael) Falteisek, of Bristow, Virginia; 2 sons, Michael (Pam) Cawood and Matt (Anna) Cawood; 5 granddaughters, Aliyah Crawford, Lily Falteisek, Nicole Cawood, Jamie Cawood and Jessie Cawood; 3 grandsons, Kobe Crawford, Brenden Falteisek and Michael Hart; great granddaughter, Layla Wedgeworth; great grandson, Braylen Crawford; 2 brothers, Davis Maryes and Bay Maryes. John was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Woodward Funeral Home with the Reverend Wiley Lowe, officiating. If you plan to attend, please come as he would expect to see you.
