John “Jay” Junk Jr., age 81, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida died peacefully Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Florida with his wife and son beside him. Born in Charleroi, PA to John Sr. and Jean Dubinsky Junk, Jay and his wife moved to New Smyrna Beach in 2018 from Yardley, PA.
A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jay was happiest around his family. He cherished his friendships and will be remembered most for his humor and wit.
He was an avid golfer, a passion he shared with his wife, and a lifelong athlete and competitor, participating in baseball, tennis, bowling and fishing.
Jay had a 41-year career with Siemens Power Generation managing the sales effort for the eastern United States before retiring in 2008. Earlier in life, Jay proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve. Most recently, he volunteered in the same day surgery center at AdventHealth New Smyrna.
Jay is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia; son, Scott (Sarah); 3 grandchildren, Isabella, Juliette, and Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private memorial for the family will be held at a future date.
