Jon Bonamo Obituary

Jon Peyton Bonamo, age 44, of Port Orange, FL, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, February 22, 2024, at his residence. 

Jon was born at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach on October 23rd 1979, to (the late) John A. Bonamo and Jennifer Goodrich Bonamo and he grew up in Oak Hill, FL. Jon went to Father Lopez High School in Daytona Beach where he lettered in baseball and graduated in 1997. He went on to get his bachelors degree from the University of Central Florida, graduating in 2005. 

Jon moved to Orlando and started working in the insurance industry. First, with Humana as a sales associate, then the last 8 years with United Healthcare working in various management roles advancing to his most current position as Director of Growth, which covered Flagler to Martin County. While living in Orlando, Jon met his wife Maria Cottin and they were married in August 2013. They went on to have two sons: Giancarlo Bonamo, age 8, and Brandon Bonamo, age 6. He and his family moved back to the Port Orange area in 2018. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, son and grandson. 

Jon loved sports, especially baseball and football. His first love was baseball, and was a devout New York Yankees fan. Jon also loved his alma mater UCF Knights football. Jon attended many home football games and had been a season ticket holder. He loved the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. Jon loved the outdoors, and his hobbies included fishing and golf.

Survivors include his wife of 10 1/2 years Maria Bonamo; and their two sons Giancarlo Peyton Bonamo and Brandon Elijah Bonamo, his mother, Jennifer Bonamo, of Edgewater; twin brother, Jason (Kassie) Bonamo of Port Orange; Grandmother Ida Goodrich of Oak Hill; Nephews: Kason and Brooks Bonamo of Port Orange; Father and Mother in law: Fernando and Carolina Cottin, of Kissimmee,  Sister in law: Adriana Cottin of Orlando, Niece: Genesis Zapata of Orlando. He also leaves behind many additional relatives and close friends.

Jon was preceded in death by his father John Albert Bonamo; his sister Amber Leigh Bonamo; Maternal Grandfather Clarence Q. Goodrich Jr., and Paternal Grandparents: John and  Virginia Bonamo.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach on March 16th, 2024 at 3 PM.
