Joseph E. Knight

Joseph E. Knight, age 97, of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday, October 20, 2023 at his residence. Born in Perry, Florida to Ivey Melvin and Alice Mae Chesser Knight, Joseph came to the area in 1932 from his birthplace.

A United States Navy veteran, he was a member of White Chapel Church of God, South Daytona. Joseph retired from the Florida East Coast Railway after working for 43 years. He was a hard working man that loved spending time with his family. Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Jerold) Braun, of Port Orange; 2 sons, Paul (Darci) Knight, of New Smyrna Beach, and Joseph L. (Nancy) Knight, of Seminole, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and brother, Carroll Knight, of Jacksonville. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dortha and sister, Pauline Hyatt.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at White Chapel Church of God, with Michael Chambliss, officiating.
