Joy West

Joy West, age 84, died Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Beachside Center for Rehabilitation Healthcare, New Smyrna Beach.

 

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Oren B. and Beatrice Prigmore Grayson, Joy came to the area in November, 2006 from Powell, Tennessee.

 

A retired administrative assistant in education, Joy was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, Tennessee and was devoted to her church. She was a member of the Kitchen Club, Sewing Group and was a cub scout leader. Joy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

 

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Fred; son, Timothy (Patty) West, of New Smyrna Beach; grandson, Nick (Amelia) West of New Smyrna Beach; granddaughter, Sharita Murphy, of Knoxville, Tennessee; great granddaughters, Allison Murphy and Audrey Defenderfer and sister, Jean (Race) Drake.

 

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with the Reverend George Head, officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lynnhurst Cemetery, Knoxville, Tennessee.
