Joyce (Eason) Tumblin

Joyce Eason Tumblin, age 91, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at her residence surrounded by family and friends.  Born in New Smyrna, Joyce was a lifelong resident of this area.  

 

Joyce graduated from New Smyrna High School in 1949.  She was a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene, New Smyrna Beach, where she taught Sunday school, played the organ and piano, and was very active in the church her entire life.  She was a member of the Pilots Club, the Red Hat Ladies, and was the owner of J.E. Tumblin Agency with her husband, “Speedy”.  Joyce loved helping others and performing charity work.

 

Survivors include her sister, Barbara Ann Eason; stepson, Jay Tumblin and his wife, Linda; step grandson, James Tumblin and his wife, Debbie; nephew, Dr. Ronald A. Eason and his wife, Elizabeth; and many other extended family members.  Joyce was preceded in death by her husband James E. “Speedy” Tumblin; and 2 brothers, Joseph Edward Eason and his wife, Jacqueline, and Roger Delano Eason.

 

Celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with the Reverend Charles Acheson officiating.  Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday.  Interment at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery will be private.
