Jules L. Bunel, 83, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025. He was born on August 4th, 1942 in Winsted, Connecticut.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jules H. and Isabelle (Ostrander) Bunel, one son, Brian Thomas Bunel and brother Donald Bunel, sister Andrea ,(Folland) Bunel and Stepbrother Harold Joseph Ramsey
Jules is survived by his wife, Lois (Basso) Bunel of New Smyrna Beach, FL, one son, Jules Michael Bunel of New Smyrna, FL and brother Charles (Pink) Bunel and spouse Regina (Serafini) Bunel of Winsted, CT, and several nieces and nephews
Jules served his country valiantly in the United States Army. He was also on the Honor Guard Team for military funerals for American Legion Post #17 and Amvets Post #2
After an honorable discharge, he was a Police Officer in Winsted CT. When family moved to Florida he worked and retired from The Volusia County Juvenile Detention Center in Daytona Beach and also worked for 25 years at The Daytona International Speedway.
In his spare time, he helped his wife escort groups on Motorcoach Tours and Cruises with their J&L Travel Agency to many destinations around the world.
Jules loved all sports and during his younger years he was a umpire for baseball and softball. A basketball and wrestling referee and even a midget football coach.
Memorial Mass will be Monday, November 3rd, 2025 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, with Father Jerome Cheveria officiating
