Kay King Bunton, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 29, 2024 at the age of 74. She was born in Lutz, Florida on January 12, 1950, to the late Henry Logan King, Jr. and Martha Dowd King.
Kay was raised in Lutz, Florida and attended Chamberlain High School graduating in 1968. After high school, she went to Stetson University in Deland, Florida, where she met her future husband, Win, and graduated in 1971.
Win and Kay married in 1972. After graduating from Stetson, Win attended Penn State, and after graduation, they moved to Louisville, KY. In Louisville, Win ran the family business, Bunton’s Seed, and Kay taught English at Ballard High School for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
She enjoyed playing USTA tennis, running the Triple Crown races, and attending her sons’ sports activities. She was also a member of Big Spring Country Club, where she met life-long friends with whom she played bridge and attended Broadway musicals among other activities.
Throughout her life, she cherished reading mystery novels, raising dogs and cats, vacations in New Smyrna Beach, the NSB Yacht Club and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include siblings sister Lou Page of New Smyrna Beach, FL and brother Henry Logan King III of Lutz, FL; children, Alex Bunton of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and John Bunton of Louisville, KY; grandchild, James Edward Bunton.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday November 8, 2024 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
