L.W. "Woody" Wood

L.W. “WOODY” WOOD, age 93, died Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Halifax Health Hospice, Edgewater. Born in Broxton, Georgia to Leo and Mary Burch Wood, “Woody” came to the area in 1955 from his birthplace. 

A member at Central Church of Christ, New Smyrna Beach; Woody enjoyed woodworking, farming and fishing. He was an outdoors person, loved mowing with his tractor and riding motorcycles with his friends. Woody took joy in playing the game Spinner and making miniature picnic tables that you put on a tree with bird seed for the squirrels. He would be entertained by the squirrels when they would sit on the table and eat. Woody appreciated his wild turkeys and watching them as they came to visit. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his son, Jimmie (Debbie) Wood, of New Smyrna Beach; daughter, Kathy (Chuck) Morgan, of New Smyrna Beach; two grandsons, Kyle (Delicia) Wood, of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Kevin (Kalyn) Wood, of Port Orange; granddaughter, Karie (Toby) Hibbard, of Port St. Lucie; four grandchildren, Courtney, Brittany, Emerson, and Hudson; two brothers, Leo (Bobby Jean) Wood, and Douglas (Gail) Wood. Woody was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; parents, three brothers, J.B. Wood, Pearlie, and Glenn.

Entombment will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023 at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Central Church of Christ, New Smyrna Beach.
