Obituary

Larry F Wilson aka “Hey Now”, age 79, died Tuesday April 25, 2023, at Emory L Bennett
State Veterans Nursing Home. Born in Bayshore, New York in 1943. Parents were Edward and Bertha Johnson Tully.

Larry moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1974 from his birthplace. He was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and self-employed painting contractor in New Smyrna Beach for 42 years. He truly believed in being active in his community by volunteering in many organizations throughout the community.

-40 year member of the Forty and Eighters Voiture # 294 where 15 of those years he was elected and served as the Chef de Gare. Under his leadership he helped raise 10’s of thousands of dollars for Nurses Training as well as funds to support local youth.
-Life member of the American Legion Post #17 New Smyrna Beach, Fl
-Life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Club #4089, Edgewater and Port Orange, FL
-Member of VFW Post 4250, New Smyrna Beach, Fl
-Life member of Amvets of Port Orange, Fl
-Former member of the Edgewater Rotary Club

Larry enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, was always the life of the party. When he walked in the room, he always would greet everyone with” Hey Now”. He was a devoted father (single parent) to his daughter, a proud grandfather and great grandfather. She meant the world to him along with his puppies’ aka grandchild and great grandchildren. Larry will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his daughter Laurea Wilson O’Dell (Patrick) of New Smyrna Beach; grandson, Erin O’Dell (Casey), of Jacksonville; granddaughter Shanleigh O’Dell, of Jacksonville; great granddaughter, Emery Linenkemper, 2 great grandsons Trace and Tritt O’Dell of Jacksonville, his sister-in-law, Susan Tully and several Nieces and Nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his Father and Mother Edward and Bertha Johnson Tully, Brothers Mickey and Robert Tully.

Funeral service will be Friday May 5 th 2023 at 11:00 am at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Acheson, officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater, Fl. Celebration of life will be immediately following the burial at the American Legion Post 17, 619 Canal St New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to: Forty and Eighters, Ronald Folmsbee, Corr Voiture 294, 3427 Tesoro Circle, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
