Leo Tomkiewicz, age 96, of New Smyrna Beach, passed Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange. Born in New York, New York to Leo Thomas and Pauline Michaud Tomkiewicz, Leo came to the area in 1986 from Dunedin, Florida.
A United States Army ranger; he served in the Korean War 1951-1952. He was a fireman in New York and retired from FDNY in 1978. Leo loved going to yard sales, watching cowboy shows/Westerns and tinkering in his garage.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Baldwin; daughter, Cindy (Bob) Ashe; son, Tim Tomkiewicz; and daughter, Patti (Pete) Fenton; grandchildren, Anthony Baldwin, Katie (Luke) Strickland, John Tomkiewicz, and Christopher Fenton; great grandchild, Aiden Baldwin. Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and son, Thomas.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with the Sacred Heart Redemptorist Fathers, officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
