Lula B. Stubbs, age 69, of Titusville, died Sunday, June 28, 2020 at her residence.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Arthur J. and Mary Cooper Walker; Lula came to the area in 1989 from Houston, Texas. She was a custodian/cook in the public school system, was a great cook and use to cater. Lula enjoyed music, working, cleaning homes and getting close to those she worked for. She was a track star when she was younger and ran against Wilma Rudolph, one of the fastest women in the world. Lula attended and was a 1966 graduate of Fidelity Manor High School, Galena Park, Texas.
Survivors include her significant other of 41 years, James Payton, Sr.; son, James Payton, III of Titusville, Florida; 2 daughters, Angela Stubbs Coleman, of Houston, Texas; and Donna Stubbs, of Houston, Texas; a step-daughter,Jacqueline Payton Dassey, of Atlanta, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Emma J. (Ernest) Brown, of LaPorte, Texas; Leilar Hutchinson, of Houston, Texas; Rosa Watson, of Houston, Texas; Judy Walker Hallman, of Houston, Texas; and Janet Walker, of Houston, Texas; brother, Jimmy (Sherrie) Walker, of Houston, Texas. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Lula was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur J. and Mary Cooper Walker; sister, Diane Dixon; and brother, Lonnie Walker.
Graveside Service will be Noon, Monday, July 13, 2020 at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater with Pastor Robert Walker, officiating. Burial will immediately follow. Friends will be received on Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Chapel, New Smyrna Beach.
