Maria Batalha Pereira

Maria Batalha Pereira, age 92, former resident of Boca Raton, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Ocean View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Smyrna Beach.

Born in Maranhao, Brazil, Mrs. Pereira left her native country in 1970, relocating to Virginia; and later, to Boca Raton in 1995. She was a member, and her husband was former Vice-President, of Assembleia De Deus-Ministerio Belem in Lighthouse Point. Maria was a phenomenal cook, loved her family and cherished her time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her five children, Anthony (Sally) of Edgewater, Jose (Silma) of Manassas, VA, Fernando (Debbie) of Nokesville, VA, Christina (Randy) Sargent of Charlotte, NC, and Paul (Robin) Edgewater; sister, Maria Jose (Julio) of Maranhao, Brazil; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pereira is preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Anthony L. Pereira.

Memorial service will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2016 at Bella Vista Baptist Church, Edgewater, with Pastor John Marsh officiating.
