Marilyn J. Weaver, age 87, of Edgewater, died peacefully Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Good Shepard Hospice, Auburndale. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan she was the eldest daughter of John and Lucille (Schmitzer) Gorman, both deceased. Marilyn moved to Edgewater in 1986 and found happiness, community, and love.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Order of St. Luke and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons: Daniel Heinicke, of Belding, Michigan; Michael Heinicke, of Houston, Texas; and Joseph Heinicke (wife Maryann), of Crystal, Minnesota; and one daughter, Debra (Heinicke) Buttiglieri, (husband Ron) of Lakeland; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers, John Gorman (wife June), of Newaygo, Michigan, and Charles Gorman (wife Debbie), of Wyoming, Michigan, and sisters, Patricia Hirst, of Trufant, Michigan, and Barbara Davison, of Lowell, Michigan.
Marilyn was a person of remarkable strength and resilience. Throughout her life, she faced numerous challenges, but she always approached them with courage and determination. Her strength was a source of inspiration to all who knew her. No matter the obstacle, she never gave up. She taught us the importance of resilience, perseverance, and maintaining a positive outlook even in the darkest times.
In addition to her generosity and strength, she was a true lover of life. She loved fishing, line dancing, ceramics, dogs, and anything others did to make the world better.
Marilyn gave a share of her soul to the world. She was loving and well-loved and will be dearly missed.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with Father Matthew C. Dallman, officiating, followed by a get-together at Our Deck Down Under on Dunlawton Ave. in Port Orange, one of her favorite restaurants.
